History of the Bahraini Flag

Originally, the flag was designed with only a red color. This color tone was used for a long time. Later on, white triangles were added to the flag. In 1932, pirates added different symbols to the Bahraini flag to distinguish its color tone from those of neighboring countries. The flag initially had a total of 28 symbols of change. However, these symbols were reduced to 8 in 1872, and then to 5 on February 14, 2002. Each of these five points represents one of the five pillars of Islam.

Meaning of the Bahraini Flag

The majority of the flag’s background is red. The left side is white and features a total of 5 triangular symbols. These triangles represent the 5 pillars of Islam. The red color has historically been recognized as a traditional color of the Iranian port cities. The flag is used in its current form without any changes. The Bahraini national flag has a design that is distinct from many Islamic country flags. The people of Bahrain hold the flag in high respect. Therefore, when visiting Bahrain, you will see the flag being used extensively beyond official areas.

Dimensions of the Bahraini Flag

The national flag can be safely used in various fields. However, it is possible to use the flag in specific dimensions.
