History of the flag of Bulgaria
The flag of Bulgaria is the flag used by Bulgaria, one of Turkey’s border neighbors. Bulgaria is also a Balkan country. The original version of the flag in use today was designed in 1879. The flag designed at that time was similar to the flag used by Russia today. The flag of Bulgaria, which is in use today, was officially adopted and started to be used in 1991. In the country, which was under Soviet influence for many years, the flag determined by the Soviets has also disappeared since this date. This flag, which was adopted by the country’s parliament, was also included in the constitution in all its lines. Like all countries, Bulgaria has secured its flag with the constitution.

The flag of Bulgaria does not have any symbols on it, it is a flag consisting only of colors. There are three different colors on the flag, covering the ground evenly in thirds. These colors are embroidered on the flag in stripes arranged horizontally from top to bottom.

Bayrak üzerinde yer alan diğer bir renk olan yeşil ise ülkenin verimli topraklarını ifade etmektedir. Bulgaristan toprakları yüksek verimliliğe sahiptir ve ülke ekonomisinde tarım önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bulgaristan bayrağı üzerinde yer alan son renk olan kırmızı ise bağımsızlık savaşı esnasında canlarını veren askerlerin kanlarını temsil etmektedir. Beyaz ve kırmızının aynı bayrak içerisinde kullanılması aynı zamanda Panslavizm’e de işaret etmektedir. Bir Slav ülkesi olan Bulgaristan’ın bayrağında yer alan bu renkler, Panslavizm’in de renkleridir.
