History of the Flag of Cameroon

The flag of Cameroon has been in use since 1975. The flag consists of stripes divided vertically into three equal parts. The green color in the hoisted part symbolizes hope and the rich vegetation of the country. The red color in the middle section symbolizes the blood flowing during the struggle for independence and sovereignty. The yellow color in the waving part of the flag represents the sun and the earth. The yellow star on the red stripe in the middle of the flag symbolizes the unity of northern and southern Cameroon.
