History of the Haitian Flag

It is the flag used by the country, also known as the Republic of Haiti. The Haitian flag is one of the few country flags that attracts attention with its history. It is symbolized as a colorful flag consisting of two colors and an island figure in the middle. Haiti, one of the most important countries in the world, is a society that has experienced frequent divisions, dictators and political upheavals throughout its history. Despite all this, after gaining its freedom, it also adopted its flag and it has been flying ever since. Haiti region is actually an island country as everyone knows. The figures and colors on the Haitian Flag actually reflect this. The current appearance of the flag, which has taken on quite different shapes and colors from past to present, was adopted in 1986. Before those times, Europeans flocked to the island and it was populated by many ethnic groups. At the same time, the island of Haiti was discovered as a result of the Christopher Columbus land voyage in 1492. After the island was discovered, it was called the island of Hispaniola. This island, which was also called Spain over time, was also home to the Haitian people from time to time. In order to be accepted by the natives of the island, which was constantly changing, it was suggested that one had to belong to a flag, religion and group. Haiti, which was subjected to French colonization and came to these times as a result of many wars or ethnic group discussions, has managed to become an island of indigenous people alone. In 1986, the people of Haiti gained full independence and have since adopted their own flag. The only flag that is accepted both physically and politically is the flag model, which is blue at the top and red at the bottom, with the figure symbolizing island independence in the middle.

Haiti Flag Meaning

The flag of Haiti, which was raised on February 25, 1986, has very interesting information in terms of meaning. The flag, which has been subjected to various problems from ancient times to this period, has not changed since its last raising. Since it came under French colonization, it was printed to carry similar colors and meaning with the flag of France. Basically, the flag actually represents two different flags. While one flag represents the official state, the other flag represents the national state. Despite representing two different states, the similarity of the flags in terms of color and figure draws attention. In both flags, there is a horizontal transition in red at the bottom and blue at the top. The only difference in the official flag is that there is an island figure in the middle, symbolizing the separation of the two countries. The most fundamental part of the separation of the two flags is the figure in the center. It is an important point of separation for both the French and the Haitian people. The figure, which represents the separation of the two countries in terms of independence, also reveals the formality. The palm trees in the figure are three in number and represent the country. Although the white color was intended to be used in the flag of the country, it was not included. The main reason for this is that the belief of the two countries to live in peace is complete and there is no need to use white color. At the bottom of the palm trees, there is a cannon carriage and there is a tree inside. The meaning of this is to show that war is opposed. The figure also includes a drum, cannon, chains and greenery. The most important reason for the use of this emblem is to signify that independence has been won. It is also mentioned that the flag used nationally also contains a slogan. Thus, it was raised in 1986.
