History of the Flag of Nepal

Nepal’s flag has both the sun and the moon. The sun represents the palace and the moon is the color of the rhododendron, the symbol of the Rana family that ruled the country until 1951.

Nepal Flag Meaning

The meaning of the country’s flag is that it has a crimson red base and a blue background surrounding this color tone. At the top of the flag is the moon symbol in white and at the bottom is the sun symbol in white. The red hue is the traditional color of the country and represents independence and peace. The 2 triangular shapes symbolize the world-famous Himalayan Mountains and the two national religions of Hinduism and Buddhism. The moon and sun symbolize the two families in charge of the country’s administration and the Rana royal family. Apart from that, these two symbols also symbolize the country’s existence in the future.
