Senegal Flag History
In general terms, the flag of Senegal is a flag that has been used since 1960. It was officially hoisted and started to be used on 20 August 1960. Three stripes and three different colours are used in the Senegal flag. These colours are red, green and yellow, which are Pan-African colours. The three stripes used in the flag are equal in size and divide the flag into three. The colour of the stripe closest to the flag is green. The stripe in the middle is yellow. The colour of the stripe furthest from the flag is red. There is also a green star in the middle of the Senegal flag. In other words, there is a five-pointed green star in the middle of the yellow stripe in the middle. In 1960, a different flag was used before this was officially adopted. The flag used between 1959 and 1960 is the flag of the Federation of Mali. This flag had only one black line man. This flag was used as a member of the union. Later, in August 1960, they started using their official flag.
