It was used for the first time when it was planted in Bratislava Castle and is still in use. Although there were some changes in the shape of the flag later, the final version was finalised in 1993 under the law. Furthermore, the flag of Slovakia consists of three horizontal stripes of equal length. The colour of the stripe at the top of the flag is white. The middle stripe is blue, while the bottom stripe is red. There is also a country coat of arms on the left side of the flag. This coat of arms is framed by a thin white stripe. The coat of arms features a blue 3-peaked mountain on a red background and 2 red crosses. It should be noted that this coat of arms on the flag is a modified version of the Hungarian coat of arms. The flag, which was first designed without a coat of arms, was later arranged by adding a coat of arms to prevent possible confusion with the Russian flag.
