History of the Flag of Spain

The official flag of Spain was first adopted on December 19, 1981. The flag was designed directly by Antino Valdes y Fernandez Bazen. The most important feature of the flag is that it has gone through different historical processes. In this respect, Spain has an unusual history. Apart from Spain, no other European country has used the Red and Yellow colors in the aforementioned dates. Therefore, these flag color options were adopted by Spain for the first time. The closest modeled flag to the current official flag of Spain was used by Carlios II, who ruled the country in 1785. At that time, the Borbuas Kingdoms were demanding a flag model different from that of Sicily, France. Until 1931, when the monarchy was abolished in the country, it was officially stated that a total of 2 different shades of red and yellow were used on the flag. The new republican regime demanded the use of yellow, red and also orange color tones on the flag with horizontal stripes. The old flag was redesigned and put into use in 1936. Since then, the flag of the country has always been designed with the heraldic coat of arms on it.
