History of the Flag of Tajikistan
In 1992, the flag of Tajikistan was adopted and started to be used. The country remained under the Soviet Union until 1991. It gained its independence on September 9, 1991. On November 24, 1992, the year after gaining its independence, it designed and officially adopted its own flag and started to use it by raising it. The country used a flag associated with Soviet emblems while it was part of the Soviet Union. This flag had a red background. It also had thin horizontal stripes in white and green. These colors were later used in the flag adopted after independence. Also, the colors used in the flag of Tajikistan and the flag of Iran are the same. But they differ in the order in which these colors are used. It is also known that there are close ethnic ties between Iran and Tajikistan.
Flag of Tajikistan Meaning
The flag of Tajikistan has three horizontal stripes. The colors of these horizontal stripes are different from each other. At the same time, the initial and subsequent stripes are equal in thickness, while the strip in the middle is slightly thicker. The color of the stripe at the top of the flag is red. The strip at the bottom has a green color. The thicker stripe in the middle is white. The white stripe is twice as thick as the other stripes. In the center of the white stripe is a crown. Surrounding this crown are seven small stars. The stars are golden yellow and five-pointed. At the same time, the crown in the middle of the flag also has a golden yellow color. It represents Tajikistan’s own territory and independence on the country’s flag. There are two different things represented by the white color. The first one can be shown as the purity of the country. The other is that it refers to the cotton industry, which is a very important part for Tajikistan’s economy. The green color, which is the color of another of the stripes, is used to represent the country’s agriculture. In addition, the golden yellow crown and stars in the center of the flag of Tajikistan mean the sovereignty of Tajikistan. At the same time, the unity of social classes and the unity of workers in the country are also represented by these golden yellow crowns and stars.
