History of the Flag of Tanzania

Since 1964, the flag of Tanzania has been in use. This flag was created as a result of the merger of the Republic of Tanganyika and the People’s Republic of Zanzibar into one state. At the same time, the People’s Republic of Zanzibar and the People’s Republic of Pemba also merged. The official adoption of the flag took place on June 30, 1964. It was raised on this date with its official adoption. Today, the flag of Tanzania, which was raised in 1964, is still in use. First of all, the flag is divided into two with a strip used diagonally in the middle. This stripe starts from the lower left corner of the flag and extends to the upper right corner. The color is black and this diagonal line in the middle is quite thick. When the flag is cut in half diagonally, two triangles of equal size are formed on both sides.
