In addition, the stars are 5-pointed and the Singapore flag was officially adopted and raised on 3 December 1959 and started to be used. The separation of Singapore from Malaysia took place in 1965. When designing the flag of the country, it was first decided to have 3 stars and designed in this way. However, later, the leaders of the country did not want it to have 3 stars because there were 3 stars on the flag of the Malayan Communist Party and a relationship could be established between them. Later, the flag was designed with two stripes and 5 stars. At the same time, a moon was added to the left corner. Since 1959, the flag officially accepted by Singapore continues to be used.
